The Secretary General, Council of Yoruba Obas, Oba Aderemi Adedapo, has described the Olugbo of Ugbo Kingdom, Oba Frederick Akinruntan, as a rabble-rouser and an attention seeking monarch for describing himself as the leader of all Yoruba Obas.
The magazine gathered that the Olugbo made this statement at an event in Ibadan, Oyo state, describing himself as the head of all obas in Yorubaland.
“I am the one Oduduwa met at Ife. We are the husband of Moremi Ajasoro. Anyone who wants real blessings should approach me. I am the one bestowed with the powers”.
Oba Adedapo, who is also the Olojudo of Ido Osun, said the claim of Oba Akinruntun was untrue. “No one can rewrite the history of Yorubaland now in order to suit his purpose.
The Ooni of Ife remains the leader without any controversy. Oba Akinruntan is just an attention seeker, he deserves no response but some people especially outside the country may tend to believe his claim.
“His utterance is part of his royal rascality we are talking about. Does he want to rewrite history or what? The late Ooni Sijuwade made it possible for him to become the Olugbo. He must withdraw that statement within the next 96 hours which is four days from now, what he is saying is abominable in Yorubaland.
Oba Adedapo however disclosed that Olugbo was not part of the 54 Obas with original crown, saying that he was only using various tactics to draw attention to himself.
